The 2,200mAh battery of the Moto X has to power a relatively modest by today’s top-end Android smartphone standards’ hardware setup. We were however, curious to measure the impact of Motorola’s Touchless Control and Active Notifications additions on the Moto X’s battery performance.
When we were first introduced to the Moto X, the device’s product management team told us that the goal was for the smartphone to make it through 24 hours of regular use.
In the 3G talk time section of our test, the Moto X stopped the clock at 14 hours and 6 minutes. The result is far from the top of our test, but in line with many of today’s top shelf offerings.

The Moto X achieved an overall endurance rating of 39. This means that the smartphone will easily make it through the manufacturer’s promised 24 hours of regular use. It is however, far from the results which today’s top-shelf smartphones have displayed.
The Moto X consumed more battery juice in standby mode than normal, likely due to the Active Notifications and Touchless Control features. We measured the device with the aforementioned two off and it did slightly better by posting an endurance rating of 44.
