In a rather surprising turn of events, Google decided to partner with Nestlé to come up with the name for the next version of their mobile operating system, Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
But while Google is talking about Kit Kat the operating system, Nestlé is taking the opportunity to promote Kit Kat the chocolate in a very different way, projecting it as some sort of new gadget on their new website. And they have a video to go with it as well.
The video is a parody of the classic Apple style of doing introduction videos. You have a guy on camera talking in a slow, emphatic manner using a barrage of adjectives to describe the chocolate. Then you have animations of the chocolate itself from various angles and “specifications” being shown. It’s an amusing video for sure and pokes fun at Apple ads in a lighthearted manner.
If you liked the video you should also check out the full website for sure. While I’m still warming up to the idea of having Kit Kat as a name for a version of Android, there is no denying this is great marketing opportunity for Nestlé.
