Rumors of an LTE-capable Surface 2 tablet from Microsoft has been making the rounds for the past several weeks, and we’ve finally been able to catch a glimpse of one in the wild.
The device will support LTE bands 4, 7, and 17, and will be exclusive to AT&T for an in-store price of $679.
Codenamed “Microsoft Donnell,”, the Surface 2 with LTE runs on Windows 8.1 RT, and also has support for the standard 850/900/1800/1900 2G bands and 3G UMTS bands 1, 2, and 5. It’s anyone’s guess at this point whether any other internal upgrades are in the works.
Actual date of availability is unknown, but given that the retail package is all ready, expect it to be soon. Hopefully a Surface 2 Pro version with LTE is in the works as well.
