If you’re a geek and your kids are small geeks you will love this TV/app/Game….Well, it’s all this mixed together and it’s gaining on popularity each and every day. That’s why I decided to let you know what all the buzz is about and why to get one if you’re a parent.
How this works?
For now there is only one episode of PlaySquare (name derived from the square that kids have to draw on the screen; through this square the child steps inside of the PlaySquare world) downloadable on iTunes, it’s called WordWorld. Your kid will be able to learn words and letters while playing and having lot of fun.
Basically, you download the app from the iTunes and start the app. Children will enter the world of colorful characters, rich animation and super-impressive stories. The Touchable TV, as the gentlemen from PlaySquare LLC like to call it, is the first TV show that will interact with you (your kids) and will help you learn while watching TV.
You have probably noticed (if you have kids) that small kids try to “enter” into the TV screen and with this app you will allow them to do so. It is probably the easiest way to keep your kids calm while giving them opportunity to learn and play at the same time. Besides playing and learning your kids will work on reinforcing motor skills.
How much does it costs?
If you decide to go to iTunes and download this app you will see that this app is free, but you will also notice that this is just for a limited period of time. So head over and take it while it’s free. Once the developers add more than one episode, we reckon the app will come with a price tag. So, this beta version is here to get your kids addicted to Touchable TV but don’t mind, we don’t think the price will rocket into the sky.
Is there a future for this kind of TV?
Well, this is not a classic TV so we won’t compare it to our good old cable or satellite TV as the two are completely different. It is definitely something that is worth thinking about and as the technology develops we will see different combinations come together (TV meets PC meets iPad meets Whatever-pops-up-next) to bring completely new solutions in our lives.
Besides this, PlaySquare is currently looking for investors ready to take a risk (if we can call it a risk) with this product. This means that we may expect new episodes on Touchable TV as soon as some generous investor comes in with funds. For the sake of us and our kids we do hope this happens soon and we get to see new episodes.
Furthermore, owners of PlaySquare are thinking about other options that will help us follow the progress of our kids. This might be some other app that will probably have a price tag as well. As we see there are a lot of options where PlaySquare may earn money and we don’t doubt that they will find Angel Investors in a very short period of time.
Until then all we can do is to sit back, relax and watch our kids develop their imagination and creativity with the first episode called “Happy Birthday Dog” (based on award-winning television episode). The first step towards future TV is made, and we can’t wait to see where it will take us. This is a small step for iTunes store but a giant leap for your kid and yourself.
