We get a hands-on demo of the new Windows Phone 8X by HTC, one of the more promising new Windows Phones this holiday.
HTC has been making Windows Phones since the platform launched two years ago, but for the first time, it feels like the manufacturer finally has some skin in the game. The Windows Phone 8X is HTC’s flagship Windows Phone this year and it looks like a good one. Our own Andrew Couts wrote up a detailed hands-on piece about the HTC 8X, so we won’t go into a ton of detail, but we were able to get another glimpse of the phone tonight at an AT&T showcase in New York and it’s looking pretty nice. We weren’t able to actually do too much on the device due to some odd Microsoft restrictions about showing Windows Phone 8, but from what we gather, this is a strong contender against Nokia’s Lumia Windows Phones and Samsung’s new “Ativ” phone. No pricing or release date have been set, but the HTC Windows Phone 8X will be hitting AT&T shelves in the U.S. sometime this fall.
