The Turtle Shell Bluetooth Boombox boasts a bat-mobile worthy exterior, but what’s under the hood?

Details are scant on the Turtle Shell, but it certainly has us intrigued.

Whoa. Is it just me, or does this product look like someone’s selling a speaker straight from Christian Bale’s Batmobile? Aside from the obvious cool factor of the design, Outdoor Technology’s Kickstarter-funded Turtle Shell Turtle-shell-speakerWireless Bluetooth Boombox looks portable and practical. With it’s pint-sized, lightweight design, the speaker could be an ideal on-the-go option.

According to Outdoor Technologies, that’s the whole point behind the design. Instead of adapting our lives to fit into a technological space, the company attempts to make the technological space succumb to our whims. For true integration into an active lifestyle, however, you’ll want the Turtle Claw as well — a clamp that locks the Turtle Shell down to various surfaces, e.g. a bike’s handlebars. The Turtle Claw will retail for $20.

The Turtle Shell speaker is billed as being dust and waterproof and works on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 10 hours play time per charge.

Expect this amphibious audio to retail for $150 once its Kickstarter term is up on October 8th. For now, we’re a little light on specs, so if the cool factor isn’t quite enough for you, you may want to wait until we get our hands on a unit and post a review. Still, it’s great to see so many geeky A/V-related Kickstarter projects gaining some traction.
