Many websites are blocked at schools, whether it be email, social media, video streaming websites or content that others may find offensive such as pornography. To fully understand how you can view blocked sites, you need to understand how to use a proxy.
Bypassing Firewalls via Proxy
What a proxy does is that it hides your IP address, making it appear as though you are coming from a different computer than the one you are on. This is the easiest way to bypass any restrictions on certain sites. There are literally thousands to choose from. A simple search will yield many results of active proxies. One I can recommend is Proxify - See promo video below
Proxify allows you to surf the web anonymously by hiding your IP address, privately and securely without installing any software, you can chose the location where your computer appears when you are online with their add-on feature called satellites, it enables you to route around temporary network outages, if you are worried about your online identity being traced, then proxify might be for you
Anonymous Proxy is possibly the most effective and quickest way to surf the web anonymously, there are other ways though. Depending on how the sites are blocked, you can try other options.
XeroBank
This gives you ability to surf anonymously using what they call USB portable anonymous web browser, xB Browser has the ability to encrypt your browsing activities in order to prevent local network snoops that will include your administrators and even your internet service providers from being able to track what you do or where you go online, it’s that powerful, it also allows you to pick any country where you want websites to think you are coming from
You could type in the IP address instead of URL, You can easily get the IP of a site by pinging the site. Another tricky way on how to access a blocked site would be to use a translation service. Online translation services allows you to enter the web url, it then translates it. This would be good for information sites with a lot of text.
WebToMail
There are services that allow you to retrieve web pages via email. What you would normally do is email the service with the provided email address. They would then send the websites to your inbox. You can also use a free service that shortens URL’s, there are many out there. By converting them to a shortened URL it appears you are visiting another page. You can sign up for a free account here
In any situation at least one of these options should work. Keep in mind, you will not have a good browsing experience via these methods. For example when using a proxy, sometimes the pages do not render as well and certain things are disabled such as SSL and flash. Also keep in mind, if you are looking at illegal content, this will not protect you as law enforcement has caught people in the past, even using proxies.
