Why The Nexus 7 Might Eat A Part Of The iPad’s Market Share

Ooooooo.. Nexus 7

There have been various attempts that have been made in the past but none of them has been as successful as the iPad. The tablet market has seen products from various technology powerhouses, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tablet, the ASUS Transformer Prime and many others. Moreover, they are found in various price brackets that fix everybody’s budget, starting from low-price Wi-Fi only to expensive 3G/4G models. But still the most popular has always been Apple’s iPad. Many have tried to copy the features it has, some have tried to incorporate new features, a few have even tried to take out low-price models to appeal to those who find it the iPad’s only shortcoming. However, none of these strategies have worked till now as people only want the iPad experience. However, Google have recently launched their new Nexus tablet, the Google Nexus 7, and this sure looks like a winner.

What is the Google Nexus 7

The new Nexus 7 is extremely practical and very well priced. All in all, it is in a good position to compete with the iPad priced at just $199.

It ships in with a vibrant and clear 7-inch, 1280×800 display with a scratch resistant Corning® glass. This makes HD videos, text and gaming all become a wonderful experience. It has a very good battery life with 300 hours of standby time and 9 hours of HD video playback time. It is powered by the NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core processor taking it very close to the A5 processor the new iPad ships in with. On top of that it has all the features that come with a Google device on the Jellybean 4.1, including Google Apps, Google Play and all the other applications supported by Android. It comes in 8GB and 16GB versions.

How does it cost so much lesser than the iPad?

iPad & Friends

Technological freaks consider it a sin to use your tablet for photography. Google adheres and does away with a rear camera and comes with just a 1.2 MP front camera for video calling. Currently it only comes only as a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth powered device. With a Micro-USB port, NFC technology, and a light weight, this tablet offers the user some incredible new features. Google have been very careful that the user doesn’t feel he gets a raw deal for a by getting something that costs lesser. In fact, in practical terms of a tablet, the Google Nexus 7 is pretty comparable to the Apple iPad.

Will Users Choose the Nexus 7 over the iPad?

One thing should be made absolutely clear, the iPad remains a superior tablet as compared to the Nexus 7. The superb display that has become an industry benchmark was established by Apple. The sound quality and the video quality is also extremely superior. Another major feature that is a part of the Apple arsenal is the App Store. While Google Play also has some pretty neat applications available for Android users, the amount of testing and development that goes into making an application for the iOS is much better than Google. Android apps are known for bugs and at times are pretty unstable. But with that out of the way, the Nexus offers a lot to any user. One thing is for sure, the fact that it is so well priced makes it a big hit among those not wanting to spend too much. Moreover, it may look as fancy as the iPad but it offers a lot of features. It may not look as smooth as the iPad but it has a lot to offer. Probably not as good as the iPad but it is tough competition for the other tablets in the market. It is the perfect solution for users wanting to buy a tablet that is not an iPad, including the Android enthusiasts. If there was one tablet that could threaten the iPad’s domination it is the Google Nexus 7.
