Apple approved: Paradigm’s CT 2.1 speaker system

The big news from Paradigm this year is that Apple likes its products and will soon feature Paradigm speakers and earphones in its stores.

We could tell something was going on as we approached Paradigm’s booth at CEDIA 2012. A little more than the usual amount of glimmer in the team’s eyes and some extra-wide smiles tipped us off that Paradigm was pleased with the news it had to share with us. Now we get it.

It turns out that Paradigm has been courting Apple for the last few months. Paradigm developed a prototype speaker system, showed it to Apple, and the way we hear it, it took Apple about 20 seconds to let Paradigm know it loved what it heard. With its foot in Apple’s door, Paradigm got busy redesigning its Shift series of earphones, developing an Airplay speaker and finalizing the design of what you’ll see in this video, the Paradigm CT 2.1 system.

With Paradigm’s products due to hit Apple’s online and brick and mortar stores in mere weeks, a whole new generation of listeners is about to become familiar with Paradigm’s products and signature sound. No wonder Paradigm is grinning.

Alleged redesigned Apple earphones spotted in Vietnam

It seems Apple is in the process of upgrading their iconic white earphones. I use ‘iconic’ only to describe the design, because when it comes to sound quality they sound about as good as a doctor’s stethoscope.

The pair you see above were spotted in Vietnam, the country famous for leaking Apple products well before launch (among other things). Gone is the flat, symmetrical design of the previous earphones that fired the sound straight into the side of your ears instead of into the ear canal. These have a more ear friendly design that should also fit more snugly and have a port for directing sound straight into your ear canal. There is also a port on the side possibly for bass reflex.

This will be the fourth redesign of these earphones since they were first introduced with the original iPod back in 2001. Hopefully, these bring with them improved drivers and better audio quality, assuming they are real. You will find more images in the source link below.
